Steelhead Studios is a design and fabrication shop that specializes in creating sustainable furniture and architectural elements.  Combining steel with wood, stone, concrete and glass Steelhead conveys a natural and minimalistic design aesthetic. Utilizing recycled and reclaimed materials  Steelhead is committed to balancing design, craftsmanship and sustainability. 

       After receiving his BFA in photography and sculpture from the University of Massachusetts, Julian Halpern worked as a carpenter, a steel fabricator, and an artist's assistant.  In 2002 he opened Steelhead Studios in an old paper mill building in Holyoke, Massachusetts. Since then Julian has had the opportunity to collaborate with a diverse array of clients.  Working with artists, designers, builders, architects and friends Julian reveres the process of creating with respect and experience.
